Warhammer 40K
Warhammer 40K is a wargame that many of my friends and I have gotten into. It's fun to build and paint your miniatures, as well as play and collect. Too bad it's so expensive. :-( Anyway, this part of the page will have info and pictures relating to 40K, and how our armies are doing. So everyone can understand, i'm putting the acronyms here. DE - Dark Eldar. CWE - Craftworld Eldar. SM (or Smurfs :-D) - Space Marines. TYR - Tyranids. IG - Imperial Guard.
The Eye of Terror campaign, the newest 40K event from Games Workshop is almost here! (July 7th) For those who don't know, the Eye of Terror campaign revolves around Abbadon the Despoiler, who summing up the forces of all Chaos gods under one banner, threatens the Imperium with force only seen in the Horus Heresy. What's this mean to us players? Well, we get to make 40K history! Starting July 7th, you'll be able to register your battles on http://www.eyeofterror.com . Here, you'll sign up with your army and everytime you have a battle, be able to register if you won or lost. When this is over, Games-Workshop will be adding a new chapter to the Warhammer history, with the outcome having been affected by the wins/losses of good and evil. (IE - if the evil armies win a bunch at Cadia, then expect the Cadian gate to be taken and Chaos right at the front door of the Imperium.) History changes will then mean new army lists, etc. (i'm guessin on this one actually, but i think it's a pretty accurate guess.) If you aren't signed up, or still don't really know, go to the above link. It wouldn't hurt!
Our Local 40K News -
June 25th 2003 - Well, it's been about a week (two weeks? *shrugs*) since we had our first EoT (eye of terror) battle at Borderlands. Man was it ugly. At first i started typing it up, but then realized it would be too big. Thus, i've decided to make word documents out of my battle reports and post em for download + viewing. Anyway, I'm considering expanding my DE Army in time for the Eye of Terror event at Borderlands. I'll be getting my last paycheck (for a while) soon, so I might spend it on Warhammer. But then again, the first 4 DVDs of X is appealing... I dunno. Depends on how much money I have. Stay tuned for the Battle Report to show up here sometime in the near future.

| Anthony's Iron Warriors. I
think i can see a rocket launcher and a lascannon in
there, but i'm not sure. (Even at 1024 x 768 I can't make
out the details that well.) Kudos to Josh, our local 40K
guy for the blood on em, and Kudos to Tim for his
resourceful use of cardboard for the bunker. |
Jon's Tyranids.
His army is this plus a dozen or so more genestealers,
plus a ravener, zoanthrope, and 3 ripper swarms. This
picture's a little outdated, as Jon told me that he's
going to re-undercoat everything in black for a more
intimidating look. Of course, whether or not he's done
that, i have no idea. GTA Vice City has been taking up
all his time lately. |

| Probably the one
with the biggest army (besides Mike and Josh) we see
Miles' command squad. A lone Termy Rune priest and wolf
critter. He usually pairs them with his Grey Hunters, but
felt that this was a better scene for a photo. Sooner or
later, i expect to see a Venerable Dreadnought + some
Wolf Guard Termies in his place. *shudders* |
Ah yes. Tim's
first army. Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers. Tim has
made good use of these guys, proving why for 291 pts they
are NOT allowed in Tournies. Now, if only he'd get them
Painted!!!!! come on Tim, everyone except you has at
least an undercoat! I don't care if you just undercoat
them, but it's impossible to tell who's who when they're
that shiny pewter color *hurts the eyes!* On an off note
though, I'd like to say i am proud of you Tim, for
expanding and getting the Imperial Guard codex + that
damn tank! (stupid hunter seeker missiles...) |

| The centerpiece
of my Dark Eldar army - my HQ Squad. (Before i bought a
Haemonculus anyway.) The one problem I'm having here is
the load. That Raider's supposed to carry up to 10 Dark
Eldar. On board there is my Archon, 4 Incubi, Drazhar,
and 2 Dark Lance Warriors. That's 8 guys. I am having to
struggle and pile guys on top of each other to
get 8 guys on there! How I'm gonna get my Haemonculus and
more Incubi on there (I'm taking the DL warriors out of
the squad) I'm still thinking through! |
My current army,
as of some date that i wrote down somewhere. The only
addition since then is a Haemonculus and i put wings on
the Dark Lance warriors. (so i can have 3 Dark Lance
Scourges) Well, as one can see, i still need to get paint
on some of the guys. The desk you see here is my
Warhammer station, where i assemble + paint my army. So
far it's served me well. |

| Eh. Same scene as
the pic up and to the right, just from a different angle.
(I like the 1st picture more.) |
Sooner or later,
I'm getting a picture of Nick's Craftworld Eldar up here.
It's just a matter of Nick comin over and me getting a
hold of my parent's digital camera. Either way, Nick's
army consists of a box of Guardians (dunno how many), 4
Swooping Hawks, Baharroth (whom we allow to be his HQ
till he goes out and buys a Farseer. Come on Nick! Go get
one already!) 4 Rangers and a Wraithlord. *shudders yet
again* evil, bad, bad Wraithlord. I like the paint job he
does with his guys, giving them white armor + blue tiger
like stripes. A cool effect one must see for oneself.
(Wait till the pic is up.) |
Also soon to come -
Jonesey's Cup Bearers! A Space Marine Chapter (well, i wouldn't
call it a full CHAPTER, but...)
devoted to the Emperor's glory and at the same time protecting a
holy relic (the Great Cup) which they know will bring the
Imperium victory over the alien forces! His Force Commander is a
converted Sanguinary Priest. (thus explaining the cup) Yet
another thing that must be seen for the full effect.
Josh's Tyranids + Tau. Josh has been playing 40K for a lot longer than the rest of us, and as such has quite a few more guys to show for it. One such example of this is his Tyrant Squad for his Tyranids (Hive Tyrant, Carnifex, Tyrant Guards) or his Hammerhead + Crisis Suits for his Tau. His paint jobs are well done (especially the aqua camo on his Tau, i think.) and would be cool pics on the site.
Mike's Chaos Army. Due to a seemingly endless source of income, Mike seems to have the biggest army out of us 'newbies'. His 2000 or so pt army (Complete with Abbadon the Despoiler) would be something to fear, had any of us 2000 pts (and Asdrubael Vect for myself. Hehehe. :-) ) to fight him. Either way, he's put a lot of variety into his army both paint and troop wise, sticking with a black and gold Alpha Legion (or whatever the core force of Chaos is) scheme, with Camo and spike conversions from time to time.
Amon's (Is that spelled right?) and Jeiram's armies. Amon and Jeiram are Josh's two older brothers who, now in college, got Josh (and thus the rest of us later on) years ago. Both have collected their armies for QUITE a while now, and it'd be interesting (i think) to see what all they have. Jeiram's main army is a Space Wolves (Chicken Marines :-D) army with a few imperial assassins thrown in. Amon plays with a Chaos army (which i have yet to fight) and Imperial Guard, including the Earthshaker.
Rasvan's Commie Tau. Rasvan also got into 40K not too long ago. With about a 1000 pts, he decided to play that 'sit back and shoot the guns' tactic with the Tau. The coolest part of his Tau is the paint job. Finding Tau society to sound communistic, he went ahead and painted his Tau gold, black, and red. The red mainly shown in Red stars, Sickle & Hammers, complete with CCCP written in red on the barrel of his Hammerhead's railgun.
Eye of Terror battles! With the Eye of Terror coming out, i predict many more battles happening between my friends, myself, and the guys at our local hobby store. (Games-Workshop is even coming to our local store - Borderlands! Woo-hoo!) As such, more battles and more opportunities for cool pictures.
If anyone has pictures of their armies that they'd like shown on the site, e mail me at Shadowtemplar@icybrian.zzn.com and I'll more likely than not post them.
